Hello.

I'm Jack.

A London based Lighting Designer originally from Chelmsford, Essex.

I didn't know you could do anything else but act or direct in theatre as an actual job. When I started to work backstage at my local theatre I was in for a steep learning curve. Soon I realised that lighting was my passion, and was eventually given more access to the theatre. Here I taught myself the basics of theatre craft, soon after ending up as Technical Director.  Within the year, I  started applying to drama schools  to study Production Electrics.

After graduating in 2018 I freelanced as a Prod LX with the odd design or Relight here and there. It was not till after the pandemic I decided to give Lighting Design a 'proper go.'

For me lighting is the perfect medium in which to express. There is something about it's intangibility that has always fascinated me; the way it can evoke such primal, deep set emotions, good and bad.  The way it can capture a mood, or remind you of something from the past. The iconography of light.

I don't underestimate its power.

In my work I am very image/concept led and strive for meaningful collaboration that goes beyond the typical constructs of theatre making. I work best when no department is closed; where we can all contribute from our experiences and unique outlooks.

I like to work on stories that are very much in the forefront of the human psyche, not often told or have a strong message.  I strive to bring my unique outlook and artistic flare to all the work I produce.
